Hope Blooms
I’ve got a lot of favorite people. but I think Kelly Krenzel is my favoritest. I first met Kelly when I photographed her nomination portrait for the YWCA Women of the Year and instantly adored her. This top-notch human radiates positivity and the most genuine type of coolness, and you can’t help but want to be her BFF.
When we met, she had recently started a new non-profit called Hope Blooms and the concept had me swooning. I wanted to be involved somehow and volunteered to be their official photographer.
Hope Blooms was inspired by Kelly’s grandmother, Freda, an avid gardener who taught Kelly the importance of bringing others joy. Their entire mission is to repurpose donated flowers and rearrange them into lovely little bouquets for our community members who need a little boost.
You can often spot these little arrangements at hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, and anywhere else where individuals are facing difficult times.
In addition, Hope Blooms has become a great volunteer opportunity for organizations and individuals. I had a great time photographing a few volunteers at the Hope Blooms headquarters in North Fargo.
While the organization started off with just Kelly, she’s grown her team to help better serve the community. And, man, she sure picked some awesome humans to help out with her mission.
